Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Common questions about calculating attendance percentage and absence limits

Attendance Calculator is a free online web tool designed to help students, college learners, teachers, lecturers, and employees quickly calculate their attendance percentage, track daily absences, determine remaining allowed absences, and generate printable attendance reports.
Simply enter your Total Scheduled Sessions and input the number of sessions you were Present, Late, Excused, Sick, or Absent. The calculator automatically divides your Counted Present sessions by your Counted Sessions and multiplies by 100.
We use the standard formula: Attendance Percentage = (Counted Present / Counted Sessions) × 100. Depending on your selected Attendance Policy, Late sessions can be counted as Present or Absent, and Excused or Sick sessions can be included or excluded from the denominator.
For a 75% minimum attendance requirement, you are allowed to miss up to 25% of the total eligible sessions. For example, out of 16 scheduled sessions, FLOOR(16 × (1 - 0.75)) = 4 maximum absences are allowed, meaning you must attend at least 12 sessions.
Remaining Allowed Absence is calculated by subtracting your Current Counted Absences from your Maximum Allowed Absences: Remaining Allowed Absence = Maximum Allowed Absence − Current Counted Absence. If the result is below zero, our tool displays 0 and alerts you that the limit has been exceeded.
Yes. Under the Attendance Policy Settings panel, you can switch Excused Absence and Sick Absence to "Exclude from Calculation". Excluded sessions are removed from the denominator so authorized medical or personal leaves do not lower your attendance percentage.
By default, Late attendance is counted as Present. However, if your institution or workplace treats tardiness as an absence, you can select "Late Counted as Absent" in the Attendance Policy Settings and the results will update immediately.
Yes! You can export both your summary report and your detailed daily attendance records to a CSV file compatible with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, or click "Print Report" to print or save as a clean PDF document.
